Guho to be sworn in today

MALDA, July 5: The new chairman of the English Bazaar Municipality, Mr Narendra Nath Tiwari, today announced that Mr Biswanath Guho will be sworn-in as the new vice-chairman of the civic board tomorrow. It was learnt that a stiff debate had ensued on the issue of electing the EBM’s new vice-chairman, as there was more than one candidate for the post. It has been alleged that the Congress councilor, Mr Guho, offered his support to the new civic board in return for the post of vice-chairman of EBM. A few days back, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party had reportedly said that the EBM vice-chairman’s post would be claimed by them and argued that three parties ~ Congress, Trinamul Congress and the BJP, should hold three important posts in the EBM. But since Congress councillors have finally occupied the posts of EBM chairman and vice-chairman, Congressmen have decided to nominate candidates from all the three parties ~ Congress, Trinamul Congress and BJP to form the chairman-in-council. Reportedly, from BJP, councillor, Mr Amlan Bhaduri, has been elected as one of the members of chairman-in-Council. Another councillor would be elected as the in-charge of the PWD department.
