MALDA, March 17: The Chanchal sub-divisional officer has issued eviction notice on either side of the state high in Chanchal town for sewage construction to resolve water logging problem in the area. “If they do not shift the unauthorised structures soon the administration will demolish them,” said Mr Debasish Sarkar, Chanchal SDO. According to him, the sewage construction has begun and will have to be completed by 25 March.The Chanchal town is a victim of perennial waterlogging during monsoon. The Uttar Banga Unnayan Parishad had allotted Rs 48 lakh for the drainage system a few years back but the project could not be executed due to encroachment and other technical difficulties.The administration had to stop demolition drive to remove encroachment earlier due to protest from a section of people. The administration sounded determined to complete the project this time though. #
