Parties gear up for Kharba bypolls

MALDA, March 24: Both Congress and CPI-M candidates today filed nomination papers in Chanchal sub-division office for Kharba Assembly bypoll. The CPI-M nominated Mrs Anjuman Ara Begum and the Congress nominated Mr Asif Mehbub , son of deceased Kharba MLA Mahabubul Hoque.The BJP and Trinamul candidates will file nomination papers within 26 March separately. Yesterday, the BJP state leader Mr Rahul Sinha here criticised the role of Trinamul Congress for fielding its candidate individually. According to him, Trinamul Congress will make a way to win the seat for CPI-M following Balagarh asse-mbly bypoll. The Trinamul district p-resident Mr Dulal Sarkar said Mr Abdul Khaleque , the former contesting candidate , will contest here. “Miss Mamata Banerjee may come here for campaigning”, he said. Today, the CPI-M district secretary Mr Jiban Moitra was present at the time of filing nomination papers in Chanchal and held LF workers’ meet at Chanchal Haat for election campaig-n with district leaders of the LF including the RSP and FB. The Congress is confident to retain the seat fielding their candidate Mr Asif Mehbub, who completed MA in fine arts from Santiniketan. Mr Priya Ranjan Das Munshi, the PCC chief, has finally selected to nominate him ignoring other candidates for this seat which belongs to his parliamentary constituency.
