MALDA, Feb. 10: Miscreants torched the Old Malda Municipality vice-chairperson's vehicle last night. The car was parked in front of the OMM vice president Mrs Tripti Pandey.
The RSP district secretary Mr Goutam Gupta, Mrs Pandey and other RSP leaders today met the Malda superintendent of police on the incident and demanded the arrest of the criminals. The RSP leadership alleged that criminal activities were on the rise In the Old Malda area due to police inaction. The Malda SP, has asked the officer in-charge of the Malda police to inquire into the incident and find out the culprits. “We suspect criminals belonging to the Congress party are behind the crime. They might have done it as many locals joined the RSP recently ending the criminals’ control over them,” alleged Mr Gupta.
According to Mr Gupta, criminals torched the RSP party office at Sadar Ghat under the same municipal area a few days ago and the CPI-M party office was also burnt a day later.
