Funds flood for Madrassa students

MALDA, 19 AUG.: The minority affairs and madrassa education department has sanctioned huge amount of funds for term loan and scholarship in 2009-10. To provide term loan to the minority people, the department has sanctioned Rs 4.56 crore for Malda, Rs 3.18 crore for north Dinajpur and Rs 4.62 crore for south Dinajpur districts.

The department has allotted more than Rs 1.46 crore for post-matriculation scholarships and Rs 2.75 crore for pre-matriculation, that are to be distributed in Malda district during the sessionof years 2009-10.

Again a scholarship funds of Rs 1.39 crore for the students of post matriculation and Rs 2.61 crore for the pre-matriculation students in north Dinajpur are to allotted.

In south Dinajpur district, the amount of scholarship funds is less than other two districts. A total of Rs 70 lakh has been allotted for post-matriculation students and Rs 1.35 crore for pre-matriculation students.

In south Dinajpur, the minority affairs department has allotted Rs 35.70 crore for Madrassa and the Multi Sectoral Development Programme (MSDP). The North Dinajpur has got the allotment of Rs 76.50 crore under the MSDP.

On the other hand, the department has also allotted Rs 68.70 crore to Malda district under the MSDP out of which Malda has already received Rs 10.50 crore, according to the minister of state for minority affairs, Mr Abdus Sattar.
