BSP starts poll campaign in Malda

MALDA, April 14: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidates have started poll campaigning in North and South Malda parliamentary constituencies.

Projecting BSP supremo Ms Mayawati, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, as the next Prime Minister of India, two BSP candidates - Mr Bikash Biswas and Mr Bharat Chandra Mandal - are begging votes. Mr Bikash Biswas is contesting from North Malda and Mr Bharat Chandra Mandal is contesting from South Malda parliamentary constituency, focusing on the backward-class dominated areas. They are campaigning in the Chnai, Dalit, and Muslim-dominated areas, with a focus on Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe voters.

The BSP are vehemently attacking the present Congress MP and his family member contesting in North and South Malda parliamentary constituencies. The BSP candidate for South Malda, Mr Bharat Chandra Mandal, said: “Mr AH Khan Choudhury, the present Malda MP, and his brother the former Malda MP ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury, did nothing for the betterment of poor Dalit people, or the minority Muslim classes in the rural belt. They are representatives of the rich.”

"Mr AH Khan Choudhury did nothing for Chnai community people in Manikchak and other block areas in his parliamentary constituency during the last two-and-a-half years. He did nothing for Bidi workers but did a lot for the Bidi factory owners," continued Mr Mandal. The BSP candidate also criticised the LF government in the state, saying the CPI-M led LF were unable to develop working systems of health, education or electricity in the last three decades. n SNS
