Together at last ?

MALDA, April 14: The ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury family seemed to be one big happy unit on the Congress patriarch's third death anniversary today. Forgetting differences erupting last month over the candidate issue for the North Malda seat, the three existing public figures of the family~ respective North and South Malda candidates Miss Mausam Noor and Mr AH Khan Choudhury, and the sidelined contender for North Malda Dr AN Khan Choudhury, appeared to unite today. Miss Noor, who had apparently earned her maternal uncle Dr AN Khan Choudhury's displeasure for pipping him at the post on the candidate issue, sought his blessings today in public, to which the uncle obliged. The performance enacted before Ghani Khan's grave at Kotwali, helped put to rest many an uneasy Congress soul in Malda. While the act was unfolding, AICC observer Mr Intekhab Alam said he was arriving in Malda tomorrow for a meeting with the district Congress leadership to sort out the “problem of disunity” among the Congress leaders on the nomination issue for North Malda. n SNS
