Sikdar's return to BJP uncertain

MALDA, March 5: The decision to re-induct former Union minister Mr Tapan Sikdar into the BJP has turned uncertain. Mr Sikdar had deserted the BJP for the Bharatiya Janashakti Party formed by Uma Bharti. According to the BJP leadership here, the state BJP president Mr Satyabrata Mukherjee and general secretary Mr Samik Bhattacharya had decided to take back Mr Sikdar in the party and had succeeded in earning the party chief Mr Rajnath Singh's consent in the matter. However, it was learnt that Mr Sikdar, a resident of Bulbulchandi in Malda district, received the party's official offer earlier than today, and he was to be a part of the programme *Advani for PM scheduled to be held in Kolkata tomorrow. Mr Sikdar, however, is yet to receive the green signal till today. According to a section of the BJP leadership, a complaint was lodged against him before the final decision on his re-induction, which has suspended the issue. nSNS
