Age no bar for teachers

MALDA, 7 SEPT: The Malda district primary school council (DPSC) would exempt age-limit for the registered unemployed, who had earlier applied for the post of primary teachers through employment exchange, so that they can apply to other advertisements for those posts, the council announced here today. According to the chairman of the Malda DPSC, Dr Uttam Kumar Sarkar, the council had earlier received nearly 26,000 names from Malda and Chanchal employment exchange offices in 2006 but it could not start off with the recruitment process due to some circumstances. “Candidates will now be able to apply to the other advertisements for the jobs of primary teachers as the council has decided to relax of their age bar."However, the age relaxation system will only be applicable to the candidates whose age is calculated as on 1 January 2006. But no age relaxation will be made for fresh candidates whose age is calcilated as on 1 January 2009, added Dr Sarkar. In a recent notification, the Malda DPSC has urged them to collect free of cost application forms from co-operative banks in six different places across the district and duly submit them by 3 November this year. According to the chairman of the DPSC, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) is expecting nearly 60 lakh applicants from the state in response to the advertisements published on 30 August in daily newspapers. To conduct written examination for selected candidates, the district councils will start screening to issue call letters to 15 candidates against one vacancy. In Malda, the council will call a total of 44,715 candidates against 2,981 vacant posts. The chairman of the Malda DPSC, Dr Sarkar said: “The WBBPE is monitoring to conduct the competitive examination and also setting up question papers. The examination will be held on a single day across the state with the same question papers”.
