Police seize fake currency, arrest 3

MALDA, 8 SEPT: Malda police arrested three persons and seized fake currency with face value of Rs 3.25 lakh from their possession from two different locations today. Police said three of them were working as a medium to supply fake currencies to a particular place. Police expressed concern about the information that Mr Tufan Sheikh was assigned to supply Rs 3 lakh fake Indian currency to a person who resides at Malda town. Top police officials were interrogating three accused to get more information about the fake currency network along the India-Bangladesh border.Police said that Mr Sheikh, a resident of Mehadipur close to the border line, got the fake currency of Rs 3 lakh, all with the denominations of Rs 500 notes from Bangladesh. Police have planned to launch a special drive to curb the menace\ before Durga puja and Id. Police also arrested two persons ~ Bajaul Sheikh and Alauddin Sheikh ~ and seized Rs 25,000, all with the denominations of Rs 1,000 notes, from them at Golapganj, close to India-Bangladesh border, today.
