Locals rescue tortured 70-year-old

MALDA, 30 SEPT: Residents of Prantapally in English Bazaar town today rescued a 70 year-old man who was allegedly being tortured by his son.
The locals found the victim Mr Hari Prasad Keshri chained in the balcony of his house this morning crying helplessly for help.Angry locals assembled in front of the house and asked the victim's son Mr Gopal Prasad Keshri to free him but the son refused to do so.
Instead, he tried to argue with the locals justifying his action, which turned the locals angry, and they informed the media.
Enraged with the turn of events, the son threw the father out of the house.
The son apparently realised his mistake when media persons reached the spot and started taking photographs of the old man lying helplessly on the road.
He finally broke down before the public and confessed that his father had been ill from multiple diseases for long.
“He has been behaving strangely and fleeing home frequently. I lost my patience with him and today chained him up,” he said after taking back his father home.
The victim Mr Keshri used to be a solvent trader and his son now handles all his establishments. All property and trade, however, continues to remain in the victim's name. ;SNS
