Father held on charges of raping daughter

MALDA, 29 SEPT: Police arrested a father on charges of allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter and produced him to the court today in Malda. Police officials said the accused, Dilip Chakraborty, a resident of Bachamari under Malda police station, was arrested earlier on charge of allegedly raping another woman a few years back. According to the latest complaint lodged by the victim and her mother, Chakraborty, a driver by profession, took his daughter, a class IX student, to watch immersion procession last night. On way back the father went to a friend's house with his daughter and allegedly raped her twice. The shocked girl returned home and disclosed the incident to her mother, who lodged a police complaint against her husband following which, the police arrested Chakraborty last night. Police conducted a medical test of the girl and have started a case against the alleged culprit. SNS
