Fake currency seized , two arrested

MALDA, Oct.28: Two persons were arrested for having carried fake Indian currency close to the Bangladesh border in Kaliachak police station areas last night. Police seized around Rs 1.75 lakh fake Indian currency; all in 500 rupee notes, from their possesion.

According to Malda SP, the Border Security Force had intercepted one person at Golapganj along border and handed him over to the police.

“BSF seized around Rs. 50,000 fake notes from him. He has been identified as Rajesh Sheikh,” the police official said.

The Kaliachak police, in course of a routine check, have arrested one person under suspicion at Alipur area today. Police recovered around Rs. 1 lakh fake notes from his possession. The arrested has been identified as Arabul Sheikh.

The Malda SP Mr Satyajit Bandyopadhayay has expressed concern over the growing menace of fake currency circulation along the sensitive points in the border areas.
