Malda to have a new administrative complex

Statesman News Service
MALDA, Oct. 3: The Home department has sanctioned Rs 1.8 crore to set up a new administrative building close to the present collector's office at English Bazaar town in Malda, the Malda district magistrate said today.

Mr C R Das said architect engineers already visited the proposed site and construction would start shortly. The Malda SDO office, which is at present in the collector's office building, will be shifted there with other concerned departments.

Some departments, which are under the direct control of the district magistrate but presently located outside the DM's office, will be come under one umbrella here. Besides the administrative building, the district administration has proposed to build a residential complex for three additional district magistrates, close to the Malda collectorate.

The district magistrate has already chosen a plot of land for a residential complex close to the bungalow of the additional district magistrate (general).

Earlier it was decided that the quarters for other additional district magistrates would be built after demolishing the old dak-bungalow close to the Malda SP's bungalow.

Finally, the district magistrate changed the earlier decision and started renovation of the old ‘dak bungalow’ as guesthouse for very important persons..

“This old house is just a replica of the old house which will be called a Heritage House”, Mr C R Das said.
