RPF steps up vigil in Malda Town Stn.

MALDA, Oct. 3: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has proposed to set up a bomb squad in Malda Town Station as a part of security measures.

The Divisional Security Commissioner of RPF Mr R P Singh said the proposed bomb squad under Malda Railway Division is in progress and the project would materialise soon.
“Considering subversive activities on railway network and to ensure safety and security of all railway passengers the railway authorities have planed to set up a bomb squad here”, said Mr R P Singh, the DSC in Malda railway division.
According to the DSC, Mr R P Singh, the RPF has already set up 11 close circuit television in Malda Town Station to monitor movement of all people in the station.
The RPF has planned to set such close circuit camera in New Farakka Railway Station in Murshidabad, Bhagalpur and Jamalpur railway stations in Bihar.

Mr Singh has claimed that the Malda Town Station has already decided to keep sniffer dogs. The proposal for bomb squad was conceived when the RPF found bombs on railway tracks in Jharkhand and Bihar area in October. After detection of explosive they could not defuse it and had to take help from other agencies.

According to RPF the railway officials are looking for a required space for setting up a bomb squad near Malda Town station. At least 50 RPF men will be trained to defuse bombs for this division.The railway officials have also planned to set up close circuit camera with recording for 24 hours in all big stations.
