CID to solve GRP cop killing incident in Bhaluka

MALDA, 13 DEC: Police has planned to seek help from CID to unearth the motive behind the gunfire killing of one GRP personnel on the Katihar-Malda passenger train, the DIG rail, Mr Anil Kumar, said here today. On Friday night a group of seven criminals snatched two rifles and cartridges from two GRP personnel and shot dead Arun Bhadra, when he tried to resist them. The incident took place at Milangarh near Bhaluka under Harishchandrapur police station, close to Bengal-Bihar border. The ADG Rail, Mr Dilip Mitra, the DIG Rail, Mr Arun Kumar, the SRP, Siliguri, Mr Jayanta Pal and the Malda additional SP Mr Kalyan Mukhopadhyay have been investigating the incident, but no arrest have been made yet. However, the involvement of Maoist connections are suspected in the incident.Mr Kumar said that they had already contacted Katihar police in Bihar to identify the accused gang after interrogating some local people who were detained yesterday. However, the identities of the detained persons were not revealed. According to the investigating officers, the two GRP personnel were attacked by the gang of criminals when they had boarded Katihar-Malda passenger train at Bhaluka station in Harishchandrapur. According to police sources, there were only 12 passengers including the criminals in the compartment. No passengers wre robbed other than the GRP personnel. They fled snatching rifles and all cartridges from their possession killing Bhadra.Another injured GRP personnel, Mr Sandip Singha was also interrogated yesterday. He said that he had heard some of their conversations when they were fleeing which were possibly Maoists’ slogans. ;SNS
