Unemployed youth to get tips on cracking Civil Services exam

Statesman News Service
MALDA, 8 DEC: The employment exchange in Malda would start a special coaching programme to prepare the educated unemployed for West Bengal Civil Service examinations. “We would coach meritorious registered unemployed youths for civil service examinations from the next financial year,” said the deputy director, employment in Malda Mr J Barman.According to him, the exchange at present is organising skill development programme for the registered unemployed so that they can appear in competitive examinations organised by the public service commission, school service commission and banking services. “Nearly 1500 candidates had appeared in clerkship mock tests organised by the Malda employment exchange recently,” he said. According to him, the employment exchange does not recommend candidates for government departments directly following the state government's decision on the matter in 2007. “We recommend the names of the registered unemployed according to the requirement of organisations. The employment exchange now selects 30 names for one post. But very few of the registered unemployed qualify in examinations conducted by the private companies,” he said.According to the deputy director, the private companies float advertisements to fill vacancies. “They conduct selection tests for both the registered unemployed and the unregistered ones too who apply for a job in response to an open advertisement. Unfortunately, the registered unemployed lack the skill to handle such competition,” he added
