Dacoits attack GRPs

MALDA, 11 Dec: Two government railway police (GRP) officers, escorting the Malda-bound Katihar passenger train, were attacked by 6-7 dacoits, while the train was passing through Milangarh in Harishchandrapur police station area. One of the GRPs, Mr Sandip Singha, was hit with the rifles, while, the other officer, Mr Arun Bhadra was shot dead. The dacoits snatched away the rifles from the two officers and shot at Mr Bhadra using one of the rifles. Malda SP, Mr Bhuban Mandal said: "There were 6-7 dacoits, who attacked the GRPs, while the train was moving. They were disguised as fellow passengers, travelling in the train, till the point of attack." ;SNS
