Council fears trouble during exams, seeks security

Statesman News Service

MALDA, 24 DEC: Apprehending trouble in examination centres for the recruitment of primary teachers scheduled on 27 December, the Malda district primary school council (DPSC) has sought adequate security arrangements from the district administration.

As per the High Court order, the Malda DPSC would conduct the written examinations for selecting candidates as primary teachers, sponsored by the employment exchange in 2006 for the recruitment.

To fulfill the vacancies announced earlier, five candidates have been called for the written examinations for one post following the present direction of the state government, according to the DPSC officials.

But the applications of hundreds of candidates, sponsored by the employment exchange in 2006, have been rejected following scrutiny on the basis of academic qualification criteria and marks.

They have been agitating since Monday in front of the office of the Malda DPSC demanding call letters.

Today the situation has taken a violent turn with the agitators demanding to meet the DPSC chairman, Mr. Tapan Mandal demanding postponement of the examination.

“We would conduct the examination strictly in accordance with the Court order.

“We are keeping in touch with the administration for the arrangements of adequate security in the centres to conduct examination peacefully”, said Mr. Tapan Mandal, the DPSC chairman.
