MALDA, Dec. 31: An error in spelling the Malda district magistrate's name in a government invitation card for a programme, has left officials red faced. So much so, that the chairman of the district primary school council, who finds himself at the centre of the confusion, had to furnish apology for the "inadvertent error".
The error was detected in the DPSC-printed invitation cards for an orientation programme for inspectors of primary and secondary schools education due to begin on 2 January in Malda.
The upset Malda district magistrate Mr Sridhar Ghosh said: “They do not even know how to write the name of a person correctly in an invitation letter. Worse, they don't even bother to ask people concerned before using their names in the invitation card.” Embarrassed senior government officials including the chairman of the district primary school council (DPSC) have apologised for the spelling mistake of the DM's name in the invitation card following his protest.
The chairman of the DPSC, Mr Uttam Sarkar, who is also a Science teacher of Malda College, said: “It was a misunderstanding. I spoke to the DM and furnished an apology.” “We cannot rectify the mistake now as all cards have been distributed. We shall ensure such mistakes are not repeated,” Mr Sarkar, added. n SNS
