Man found unconscious near railway tracks

MALDA, Dec. 9: The Malda GRP is waiting for Mr Nitai Sarkar, a railway passenger, who was rescued by villagers and admitted in Malda district hospital with the help of police two days ago to regain consciousness and narrate what happened in the train.

Police suspect that the victim was drugged and thrown off the train by some goons. A New Delhi-Malda train ticket was found on him.

The IC, Malda GRP, Mr Swapan Dasgupta, said that the GRP was waiting for Sarkar's recovery. “A gang drugging passengers to rob them seems to be active in this route,” he said.

Sarkar is a resident of Jamirghata near Sujapur. He was rescued in an unconscious state near close to the railway tracks in the Sultanganj (near Farakka) area.

The man's son, Swapan Sarkar, had sought police help in registering a missing diary in Kaliachak police station, when Nitai did not return home. n SNS
