MALDA, Dec. 1: Police rescued a woman identified as Mrs Rita Bagchi, a government employee of the sericulture department from the NBSTC bus depot today.
Mrs Bagchi was reportedly lying unconscious in the depot for over five hours since 3 a.m. Police spotted her around 8 a.m. and admitted her to Malda district hospital. She was unconscious till the time of filing this report.
Her husband, Mr Uday Bagchi, who is also an employee of the sericulture department, said that she was ‘psycholically disturbed’ and was undergoing treatment for the past few months.
“About 2 a.m. I found that she was not in her bed. This morning a colleague informed me that she had been admitted to Malda district hospital,” he said.
Sources said that one rickshaw puller brought the woman to the NBSTC depot from Malda Town Station around 3 a.m. and left after being paid.
Local media persons informed police about her this morning. Police found some phone numbers including that of a staff of the sericulture department in her handbag and informed him about her.
