Govt hikes rate of compensation for culling

MALDA, Dec. 16: The government has increased the rate of compensation for the poultry to be culled infected with the Bird Flu virus in the affected villages.

According to the present rate, affected people would be getting Rs 20 for each less than 10-weeks-old chicken and Rs 50 for every one full-grown ones. The government has suggested paying Rs 50 for full grown layer. Rs 40 for each broiler. Rs 10 for Japanese Quell, Rs 75 for duck and geese, Rs 50 for Guinea foul and Rs 160 for a full grown turkey.
