All the Prime Minister's men...

MALDA, Dec. 4: The Malda MP and Congress district President Mr AH Khan Choudhury had tried hard to portray the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh visit at Sujapur for by-poll campaigning but on request of the security officials he had to deter them. So now he can be seen busy with his family members decorating his house for PM's visit at Kotwali.

“If security is the main problem for the PM to land at Sujapur, then it should be dropped. Please arrange proper security for him here,” he told security officials.

The family members of the late Ghani Khan Choudhury and local Congress leaders who closely associated with Mr AH Khan Choudhury are evidently very happy here specially when Congress chief Mrs Sonia Gandhi's had also paid them a visit few months back.

“After the visit of PM, it would be established that family members of Ghani Khan are the most prominent Congress leader in this district as well as in north and south Bengal regions in absence of Mr Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi,” said a senior congress leader in Malda.

Mr AH Khan Choudhury today told reporters that he would urge the PM once again to contest from north Malda parliamentary seat in the coming Lok Sabha election. He also said that the PM had earlier refused to contest from here.

It may be noted that Mr AN Khan Choudhury, the elder brother of Mr AH Khan Choudhury, the Malda MP, is interested in contesting from north Malda seat and he would approach the would propose the same to the PM.

However, how he will approach the PM in his 25 minutes visit on 7 December is questionable. The Malda MP also said that the PM would stay here for nearly 40 minutes.

On the other hand, CPI-M is trying to cash the PM visit projecting Mr Abdus Sattar, minister for Madrasa education, as the representative of the state government and who will receive the PM at helipad on behalf of the state government at Kotwali, following the protocol.

Political sources confirmed that Mr Sattar would contest from South Malda parliamentary seat against the Mr AH Khan Choudhury, the brother of late ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury.
